The next Lapidus Scotland Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 15 March 2023 at 6.45pm.

From 7.45pm we present readings by Jim Carruth, Naomi Shihab Nye, and members of Lapidus Scotland writing groups.

Both events take place in the Clubroom, CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3JD. You are also welcome to join us online.

You can book for either or both events at Eventbrite.

The AGM (6.45–7.30pm) will formally present a report on our work during the 2021/22 financial year, elect a committee and give an overview of the work of Lapidus Scotland.

We are looking for new members of the management committee, so please consider this chance to get involved with our work. The committee meets about eight times each year. All recent meetings have been held online.

The Annual Report and Annual Accounts for 2021/22 are both available on our website.

The AGM will be followed by a poetry reading featuring Jim Carruth, Naomi Shihab Nye (joining us online from Texas), and members of Lapidus Scotland writing groups including Karina Vidler and Pat Sutherland.

Jim Carruth is an award-winning poet, editor and awards and events programmer. He is the co-founder and current chair of St Mungo’s Mirrorball. In 2014, he became Glasgow’s Poet Laureate. Much of Jim’s work focuses on our relationship with nature and in particular the experiences of those who work the land. Far Field, his most recent poetry collection, comes out in March 2023 and is the final part of the Auchensale trilogy.

Naomi Shihab Nye’s books include Tender Spot (Bloodaxe, UK) and Everything Comes Next (Greenwillow, US). She has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival, once conducted a writing workshop at Glengorm Castle on the Isle of Mull for two weeks, and led an online session for Lapidus Scotland and the Scottish Poetry Library in 2021.
